An investigation has revealed that a foodstuff manufacturing unit in Delhi’s Chiragar area, under the ownership of the Chiragi-based foodstuff firm, Chiraj Foodstuffs, had been raided recently by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Sources in the ED have said that the unit had been running a food business for the last two years and was set up as a manufacturing unit by a friend of Chiragan’s.
However, the business had been run by a relative of Chiraag’s.
Sources have also said that a preliminary probe revealed that the business was not registered with the ED.
The ED has directed Chiragen Foodstuff to “immediately surrender” the business and file a criminal case against its directors and officers.
The case will be lodged by the ED at a later stage.
The investigation has been initiated following a tip-off that the foodstuff unit was operating in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
