Foodstuff trading firm Oasis National Foods, which operates restaurants in the Paradise park in the south of the country, has come under fire for its entry into the competition, which pits two food businesses against each other.
Oasis National Foodstuff is hoping to open its first restaurant in the park next year, which is a move which has attracted a lot of criticism from the food business community.
Last week, the company’s chairman, Anthony McInnes, told The Local that Oasis was taking a gamble by entering the competition and that it was trying to make the right move.
“I think we’re in a unique position with a large scale company that’s building a brand.
We have to make a business decision on the ground,” McInneys said.
The company has already opened restaurants in other parts of the park, including the nearby Eden Park, which hosts a variety of outdoor events including a football tournament.
“It’s a bit like opening a restaurant in a park.
It’s not a huge scale but it’s a place where people come for fun,” Oasis managing director Mark Gomes said.”

The company is hoping that its new location will be a natural progression from its Eden Park locations.
“This is an opportunity for us to expand our presence in the community, to create more local jobs, to increase our brand recognition and build our presence.”
The opportunity for the new restaurant is to grow our local business, but we also want to build our brand as well.
“Gomes said that the new location would be located in the town of Lismore which has a population of around 6,000.”
That’s where we think we can really build on our reputation and create a brand that is unique to this park,” he said.
Oakes said that he was not worried about the backlash that may be caused by his decision to enter the competition.”
There’s no one-size-fits-all for a restaurant and we’ve always had a big menu, so it’s been quite a challenge,” he explained.”
But I think this has really been about our brand.
If there is one thing we know about Paradise Park, it’s that people want good food.
“Oakes’ decision to come into the park has drawn criticism from some in the food industry.”

Last year, the food and drink industry lost $1.8 billion in value, according to the latest data from the Australian Industry Group (AIF).
The latest data also showed that in the third quarter of last year, retail sales fell by $1,965 million, with restaurants losing an additional $973 million.
Okins chief executive Anthony McNeil said the company has a strong record of delivering on its promise to build on its reputation.
“Oasis has a long and proud history in the restaurant sector,” he told The Telegraph.
“Our focus on quality and customer service is a big part of that.”
In the past we have expanded to locations in places like Adelaide, Hobart, Perth and New South Wales.
We will continue to do that and we’ll be able to continue to build a successful restaurant chain in the future.
