After a hard-fought season in which the Royals won just seven games, the team had a chance to close out the year on a high note.
The Royals went on to win the World Series in 2019.
But on Thursday night, a video game company was awarded the right to host the game in Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium.
The game, dubbed “The Great Royals,” is scheduled to be played on Sunday, April 13, 2019.
It will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
The video game franchise is owned by Warner Bros., which owns NFL Network, HBO, Cartoon Network and more.
It has been owned by Fox since 2015.
The first Royals game was held in the 2017 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The game will be the first game played at Arrowhead since 2013.
