The latest job figures show Ireland has still plenty to offer its workforce.
The number of vacancies at the country’s leading manufacturing firms rose by 3.1% to a record level of 15.2 million in June.
The jobless rate fell to 10.7% from 11.2%.
The biggest drop in unemployment was in construction, where employment dropped by 1.9%.
But the number of people seeking work rose by 1,000 to 1.7 million.
The figures show the labour market has yet to recover from the global financial crisis and unemployment remains high in some sectors.
The jobs figures are based on responses from firms that are able to provide data on the number and type of jobs available.
